Inspiration arrives unexpectedly. I stumbled upon the armor
exhibit in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and it inspired this series of works.
I wondered about the stories the helmets would tell about knights in battle or about trophies of tournaments.
Were they expensive treasures from the best engravers to sit on a shelf, or were they worn by soldiers into battle with a shade of death following closely behind?
Each painting from the collection is based on an actual historical piece.

Paintings with square shape are 8"/8" oil on wood cradled panel.
Paintings with rectangular shape are 10"/8" oil on wood cradled panel and oil on allinpanel (linen mounted on aluminum panel)
